Our
Mission

"I have never experienced anxiety leave my body as I did when I stood next to a horse that day at Horses of Hope."
-Agency Staff

Our family moved to Missouri in June 2022. It was important for Gatlin, that we find an equine therapy provider close to our new home. We wanted Gatlin to continue with an activity he fell in love with nine years ago. We found that at Horses of Hope.
Gatlin started riding at the Baxter Springs, Kansas  With Sarah as his trainer, Heaven,  and Jessie as horse lead, Gatlin started to feel at home again.
The activities he does while riding improve his hip mobility and core strength. This helps Gatlin walk with his gait trainer and take steps backwards as he transitions from standing to sitting on a daily basis.

Horses of Hope created an opportunity for Gatlin to move his sessions to the Rogersville location last year. Sarah continues as his trainer, with Mary at the lead. Sarah has been able to continue his core strengthening as well as provide Gatlin with a “job”. A real cowboy, helping with the tack! He LOVES it!
We are very, very grateful to have this program available to our son. It is something that is his very own.

Thank you, Horses of Hope,
Gatlin, Gary and Donica Swinton

Finding Hope...

Everett began his journey at Horses of Hope just over a year ago. He loves animals and was very excited to meet Domino. When Everett first started therapy, he relied on a walker to navigate the busy school hallways and faced challenges with hand-eye coordination.
From the very beginning, Everett has cherished every moment spent with Domino. Over the past year, we’ve seen remarkable progress. His core strength has improved so much that he no longer needs a walker, and his hand-eye coordination has come a long way as well.

We are incredibly grateful to the entire team at Horses of Hope. The therapists and support staff have been compassionate, knowledgeable, and encouraging every step of the way. They've pushed Everett to grow while also making therapy a fun and uplifting experience.

Thank you, Domino,
and everyone at Horses of Hope!

...we’ve seen
remarkable progress...

Our family has found such a place for our son at Horses Of Hope. Our son Jackson, who is on the autism spectrum, at first did not understand the significance of the new program we were beginning. Each week we returned, he gained a fresh perspective on life and gaining trust not only for his chosen horse & the wonderful staff at Horses of Hope but also a new trust for himself. For the majority of his life, our son would often stem and feel the need to retreat into his mind and away from the chaos with the additional stimulation that surrounded him. His imagination would seemingly take over to calm himself down. This was certainly his way of self preservation, something that we got used to, but at certain times we would say to him, “Quiet your hands, Jackson” and he would do so.

Not long after beginning the program and learning the ways of his chosen horse, a change in our son became incredibly evident. We noticed that as soon as he would arrive on the property at Horses of Hope, Jackson would cease to retreat into his stemming, skipping about or vocal repetitious defaults that happened daily for the entirety of his session. This calm was new and he wanted more of it. He began to ask every week when we were going back and I knew this was not out of obligation, but of need. I believe with my soul that the staff and programs offered at Horses of Hope are something more than what traditional therapy could ever offer. I would encourage any parent considering Horses of Hope as more than just another option, but a lifeline for your child to become more of who they are meant to be.

Forever Grateful,
Nate, Jessica, Jackson & Rowan
